Reiki
 What
is Reiki?
Reiki (ray-key) is an ancient form of natural healing whose origins date back
2,500 years. Rei means Universal or Divine and ki is the vital
life-force energy that flows through everything, living and non-living.
This energy is known throughout various cultures as "chi",
"ki", "mana" or "prana". The frequency and
flow your your ki can be adjusted to balance your physical, mental and emotional
energy levels.
Universal Life Energy is an inherent part of each of us. Anyone, at any
age, can benefit from receiving Reiki. Reiki does not require any special
belief system and is flexible enough to fit into anyone's life. Reiki will
not react with other forms of therapy, medication or medical procedures.
How
can Reiki help me?
Reiki is simple to learn and even easier to use. Reiki's first and most
important function is to empower an individual's own healing abilities.
The beginning practitioner learns early on that self-healing is the place to
start. The daily application of Reiki can bring about great changes and
transformation. For example, Reiki can help you reduce your level of
stress. Doctors and scientists have proven stress is one of the most
common causes of illness and disease.
What
makes Reiki different?
There are two primary differences between Reiki and other Energy modalities.
The first is that the
practitioner does not use their own personal energy. Instead, they access
the Universal energy. Secondly, Reiki is taught in
levels. There are three different levels. These levels reflect three
areas of study: Using Reiki, Studying Reiki and Teaching Reiki.
What
happens during a Reiki session?
During a Reiki session Universal Life Energy is channeled through the hands
of the Reiki practitioner into your body. The practitioner's hands are
placed in a number of key positions, leaving them in place for a few
minutes. During the session you will remain fully clothed and will lay on
a massage table or be seated in a comfortable chair. A treatment lasts
about an hour. It is a very gentle technique
promoting self-healing, stress reduction, increased energy, pain relief and an
overall general feeling of well-being.
